Winter in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bavaria

I was browsing one of my external hard drives where all of my documents, files and photo albums are saved. I stumbled in one of the albums and found some images from Rothenburg of der Tauber. In short, I ended up sharing one here.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a beautiful town in the district of Ansbach in the Franconian region in Bavaria, Germany. It is famous for its well-preserved medieval old town. Tourists from around the world visit this town all year-round. (more…)

 

The Monument of the Famous Composer Johann Sebastian Bach in Dresden

Many of you are very familiar about this famous German composer, organist, harpsichordist, violist, and violinist of the Baroque period. His name is no other than Johann Sebastian Bach. He was born in Eisenach, Saxe-Eisenach, on 21 March 1685. He was the son of Johann Ambrosius Bach, the director of the town musicians, and Maria Elisabeth Lämmerhirt.

I had the chance to visit Leipzig last December 2013. I took the chance to go  around the city and found some of its historic sights and monuments. One of it was the St. Thomas Church. Bach worked here as a Kapellmeister. It is also the place where his remains was buried. Beside this church, also stand the monument of Bach. (more…)

 

It is a Pancake Tuesday Today

After the Pancake Tuesday comes the Ash Wednesday.  Before this day, Shrove Monday comes first. Pancake Tuesday is also known as Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday or simply Pancake Day. It is celebrated in many countries around the world like in United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, Germany, Austria, Brazil, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and more.

Not really pancakes but some sort of sweets for you this Fat Tuesday celebration. I know I have pancake photos in my albums but I can’t find it at the moment.

Shrove Tuesday is related to the carnival festivities. in Germany, it is called as Fasching or Fastnacht Day.  In Iceland the day is known as Sprengidagur (Bursting Day). Whatever country you live, you surely has a name for this day.  (more…)

 

The Musicians at the Lord Mayor’s Parade in London

I guess, it is throwback Wednesday today. How I miss England and I wish, I am there at the moment. Sad to say, I also have other travel priorities this time and I believed it  is the right decision I did now.

I was lucky enough to watch the Lord Mayor’s Show during my visit in London   for over five years now.  Thanks to  dear friends for bringing me there. I am truly grateful!

The Lord Mayor’s Show is one of the best-known yearly events in London. It was raining during our visit, typical England weather during autumn or fall season. I did not worry about it because I am a full-geared traveler with all my gadgets with me including umbrella, good shoes and winter jacket,  especially when traveling during winter season. (more…)

Lovely Summer in Helsinki, Finland

I am indeed a happy traveler. After visiting so many countries and cities last year, I can say probably it is enough for me this year. Good to know, there will be more travels to come this year. It might not be the same as last year but I am thankful to be visiting some more places and countries.

I have a lot of travels to share but my busy schedules always hindered me from sharing it on time. lolz! Let me go back about my trip to Finland’s capital. It was summer last year when we visited Helsinki. It was a cruise holiday in the Baltic and Scandinavian region. We visited four cities and countries including Stockholm in Sweden, St. Petersburg in Russia, Tallinn in Estonia, and last but not the least Helsinki, Finland.

The statue of Alexander II and the Helsinki Lutheran Cathedral  in the background. The Cathedral is considered as the most prominent building and symbol of the city. The church was originally built from 1830-1852 as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland, Tsar Nicholas I of Russia. It was also known as St Nicholas’ Church until the independence of Finland in 1917.   (more…)

Having Fun in Funpark Regensburg

It seems that I haven’t been for a night-out over a year ago. While browsing the albums in my external hard drive last night looking for some pictures of my friends, I did browsed one of the albums and found some images taken when we went to Funpark last 2012.

The Funpark in Regensburg has bars and discotheques. As far as I can remember, I only visited this place 4 times since 2008. My last visit was in July 2012. There are three disco rooms in Funpark. Each room plays different music. It depends on the type of music you want, then you can choose which room to go. (more…)

 

The Venetian Carnival in Nuremberg

I was so excited that time because I can finally witness a Venetian carnival. It was not in Venice but it was in a Bavarian city named Nuremberg (Nürnberg in German). I have been to Venice five times already but never experience the carnival event.

We took the train in going to Nuremberg and when we arrived there, there was indeed a Venetian carnival. I expected it to be a big event but it was not. Inspite of that, I still enjoyed the little carnival parade they had. What I love most are the beautiful costumes of the Venetian carnival. (more…)

 

Money-saving Tips When Dining in Restaurants

Many people are put off eating out, as they associate it with spending a lot of money. However, dining out at a restaurant needn’t be an expensive outing. There are plenty of ways in which you can save money when eating out. Here are a few suggestions:

The amount you spend will obviously depend on which restaurant you opt for. Cheap restaurants don’t necessarily provide lower quality food, and there are many gems to be found in every city. Look out for small foreign businesses, cooking simple dishes at great rates. Many curry houses have a bring your own beer policy too, meaning you can buy cheap alcohol from elsewhere.
