This is Quite Funny and Interesting Words about Health!

I was  smiling and I would say laughing when I read this  Q and A (Question and Answer  portion.lolz! ). I   have no idea who is  the doctor who was interviewed here. A   friend and compatriots shared this in her facebook wall. I can’t avoid not to share it with you guys.  He is quite a cool doctor huh! I believed when you have an appointment with a doctor like him, you will keep on laughing and your sickness  will be gone.  Don’t forget, “Laughter is the best medicine”. HAHAHA! Really Funny!

I wish everyone a wonderful month of February! All the best!

Keep reading folks!

Smart Doctor!

Q: Doctor, I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it… Don’t waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap. (more…)

Six of my favourite workout classes

I suppose you could say that I had a bit of trouble with finding a title for this article. I’m not the most inspiring person when it comes to physical fitness. I don’t wake up every morning at 5am to go to the gym, and I don’t always enjoy it when I do make an appearance (often late at night… after consuming something deep fried or covered in chocolate.)

But, ‘favourite classes’ don’t have to be classes that you absolutely love and that cause you no physical pain at all the next morning. They are the classes that push you, but that you can still find moments of enjoyment in. So, on that note, here are six of my favourite workout classes:

Spin

Spin classes are often forgotten in this day and age of wiz-bang, Latin-flavour, cardio-convulsing workouts. But sometimes it’s nice to just go back to basics. You. An exercise bike. Some music to keep time to. My tip for spin classes is to see if you gym runs different classes for different skill levels, because there’s a big difference between half an hour of 15km/h and 20km/h intervals, and being strapped into a machine racing at 25km/h with sandbags on your feet. But if your gym only offers the latter, the good thing about a spin class is that if you take a break, or need to go a little slow, you’re not inconveniencing anyone else in the class, because you’re all doing your own thing on your own bike. Sushi in an Asian Restaurant

I was invited last time by some friends to go with them in Regensburg, a  city in Bavaria, Germany. One of my friends said that there is a good Asian restaurant in that area.  When it terms to trying new foods and restaurant, I  usually don’t say no to it. I love food and it is good to  go to a restaurant to try new  recipes and get ideas from it.

In short, we went to that Asian restaurant and ordered some food.  I decided to order Sushi, a Japanese specialty.  I am not really into raw foods. I know that sometimes raw fish or seafood are ingredients  in  making  sushi.  I ordered a seafood sushi as you can see in my picture below. It tasted good and I want to go back there again to try their other sushi.

Be careful of what you eat from the street vendors!

I read this from a Facebook friend. I have been thinking for some days now  if I will share it here in my blog or will just  ignore it. Finally tonight, I decided  to post it here for everyone to be aware of what you are eating especially when you are  buying from  street vendors. This is especially true if you travel in third world countries.  You can see a lot of vendors on the street markets selling all kinds of foods, fruits and vegetables. Sometimes we just buy foods  we see on the road and forget to wash it before we eat it. Lesson number one: Always wash fresh fruits and vegetables before  we put it in  our mouth.

I am not sure if this is true or not.  This  post   just serve as a warning.  Besides, we  must  always  be careful of what we eat especially if we buy it  on the street. I was informed before by a doctor that we might get some sickness  or virus  like Hepatitis,  if  for example we use the  eating utensils like  fork or spoon  of  a  person who has  a hepatitis   virus. Consult  medical experts if you want   more reliable information.

Mallya  Hospital  is  located in Bengaluru, India.
Below is the story for you to read. Be careful everyone!

“A 10 year old boy had eaten pineapple about 15 days back, and fell sick from the day he had eaten. Later, when he had his Health check done… doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS. His parents couldn’t believe it…

Then the entire family underwent a Checkup… none of them suffered from Aids. So the doctors checked again with the boy if he had eaten out…The boy said “yes”. He had pineapple that evening. Immediately, a group from Mallya hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check.

They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger while cutting the pineapple, his blood had spread into the fruit.

When they had his blood checked… the guy was suffering from AIDS… but he himself was NOT aware.
Unfortunately, the boy is suffering from it now.

Please take care while u eat on the road side. And please SHARE this to your family and friends. —”

Does the Dukan healthy diet plan work for all?

Recently I read a couple of reviews of the Dukan diet, each individual putting forward a very different experience of the weight loss plan.

The first review I read was by Rebecca Twomey a writer for Cosmopolitan. She admits to losing weight on the diet but makes the experience sound pretty dreadful. Complaining of lethargy, crabbiness, stomach ache and not being able to speak properly. Also there is a moment where she loses her sight!

Although once you read her story you clearly see that this girl isn’t taking the diet seriously. Skipping dinner to eat sweets because she’s bored of not eating carbs, slipping in a glass of wine here or there and a slippery second week at a festival eating carbs and drinking vodka cokes. Let me remind you the main premise of the diet is that you cut out carbs all together. (more…)

Aromatherapy for Beginners

For anyone looking to start up basic, amateur aromatherapy, a lot of the prospective scientific concepts and ingredients involved can be really quite daunting. I remember when I first got into it as a hobby to do in my spare time. The range of products and possibilities dazzled me a little, so I didn’t really manage to achieve anything significant until I learnt about the real basics. So here is a run through of need to know information for wannabe aroma-therapists.

The practice of aromatherapy involves the blending of different essential oils to create remedies for varying ailments and also make up part of a therapeutic lifestyle. The benefits of aromatherapy can be reaped in a number of different ways, varying from skin absorption to inhalation.
aroma.euroblog.com

Essential oils can be broken up into nine fairly broad categories; floral, wood, earth, herb, mint, medicinal, spice, oriental, and citrus. It’s hard to really recommend which types of essential oils mix well together as everyone obviously has their own personal fragrance tastes and it also depends on the sort of benefit you are seeking. And to be honest it would take out the fun of mixing and matching your own experimental remedies. A quick note however – perfume oils are different from essential oils as they do not possess the health or therapeutic effects when inhaled or applied to the skin, they simply smell nice!

Furthermore, essential oils are broken up into top, middle and base notes which are aspects to be taken into account when looking to experiment with blending. The logic behind this is that particular oils evaporate quicker than others in the blending process and are therefore broken up into notes, with top notes evaporating the quickest and base notes taking the longest. It is a fairly extensive list which I won’t put up here, but it will take you seconds to find a full comprehensive list online without a problem.

Much of the fun of aromatherapy comes from the experimentation of blending essential or organic oils and the creative aspect of this process. As a beginner it is best to use very small amounts to ensure minimal wastage during your experiments. Try to ratio out your blends of oils too, using different amounts of each oil note to achieve a different and interesting final blend. If you are a little unsure on which oils to go for you can pick up these ready prepared kitsthat have a range of essential oils that compliment each other for a collectively cheaper price.

For beginners I would recommend that you stick to vapour practice at first. This is done through burning the oils (individually or blended) in a diffuser or oil burner which secretes the vapours out into the room, and into your body and mind.

A Wonderful Christmas Celebration to All!

Christmas  is the celebration of the birth of   Jesus Christ
who come to shine to those who are in darkness.
May   this season of Christmas  bring  us joy, love,
peace contentment and  happiness!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR TO COME!

“Happy, happy Christmas,
that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days;
that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth;
that can transport the sailor and the traveller,
thousands of miles away,
back to his own fire-side and his quiet home! ”

Food Photo for Today

I am trying to remember where did I took this image. When I looked at the date of the photo, I  already know where.  Last September, we had a trip to the Baltic region. Our bus was on its way to Hamburg for a short sightseeing. Somewhere in the Autobahn or highway going to Hamburg, we stopped in a restaurant to  do some personal needs and also to take a break for a snack or lunch.

That  was the  when I took this photo of the fresh fruits like banana, oranges and some fresh juices  of many flavors. I just  bought one of those bananas.

Thanksgiving Banquet

There are so many things to be thankful of in this life. It is myriad and giving thanks each day  is good deed that can be cherished and  be treasured. The food we eat everyday, the air we breath, the shelter that protects us, the clothing we have, the good  friends  we have and all the  opportunities, blessings and graces that we received everyday, are some of the things that we must  be thankful off. Thank you dear Lord most especially for the gift of life and the  chance to see the beauty of this world.

That is why last November 22, 2012, I was invited by some American friends to join their Thanksgiving banquet. This is quite a late post but I always believed in the saying, “Better Late Than Never”.

A Thanksgiving banquet  in one of the  US Bases in Germany.

Imagine to attend 3 parties in a day?? Wow, I always forget the word diet anyway when it comes to party. Besides I love food and  I love to eat..hmmm..Not really good for me.

The first meal was a lunch  date with good friends who invited me in a Thanksgiving lunch inside the the nearby US Base. We were quite early as we went there but all the wait was paid when we tasted all the sumptuous food in that buffet. I remembered the millions of people who  don’t have food to eat everyday. I  made it sure that I eat all of my food and don’t waste it. I just feel sad when  someone is throwing food  and a lot are dying due to hunger.

Without further adieu, there are a lot of foods that were served from seafood to meat, salads, drinks, pastries, desserts, fruits, vegetables and many many more! More food photos here.

Fruits of many kinds  at the Thanksgiving banquet.

Passing Time With Online Games

There’s plenty of things that you can do with your loved ones apart from staring at the idiot box throughout the times you spend indoors. If you’re not into reading or crocheting, you might want to try playing board games with your loved ones whenever you get stuck indoors during the days when you cannot go outside, or you feel like relaxing at home.

Playing board games is a good way to pass the time. It’s not only fun and sometimes educational, but it will help you to bond with the people you’re playing with as there will be loads of interaction going on whenever you play any kind of board game.

But if board games are not your cup of tea, you might want to try playing bingo. Yups, you’re reading that right. I’m suggesting that you play bingo; indoors, in the comfort of your own home. Don’t think it’s possible to play bingo indoors? Well, that’s where you’re wrong. You can play bingo indoors. Online bingo, that is. You can check out PartyBingo.com and give it a go and maybe after that, your rainy days will never be gloomy again.
