The Musicians at the Lord Mayor’s Parade in London
I guess, it is throwback Wednesday today. How I miss England and I wish, I am there at the moment. Sad to say, I also have other travel priorities this time and I believed it is the right decision I did now.
I was lucky enough to watch the Lord Mayor’s Show during my visit in London for over five years now. Thanks to dear friends for bringing me there. I am truly grateful!
The Lord Mayor’s Show is one of the best-known yearly events in London. It was raining during our visit, typical England weather during autumn or fall season. I did not worry about it because I am a full-geared traveler with all my gadgets with me including umbrella, good shoes and winter jacket, especially when traveling during winter season.
“A new Lord Mayor is appointed every year and the public parade that is made of his or her inauguration reflects the fact that this was once one of the most prominent offices in England.”
The Lord Mayor’s Show is centred on a street parade which in its modern form is a light-hearted combination of traditional British pageantry and elements of carnival. During the parade you can find the participants with its colorful and extravagant costumes. There are also musicians during the parade, like what you see in my image here. I never saw someone who played a casio ctk 800 but there were a group of young musicians who played xylophones that time. It a musical instrument in the percussion family that consists of wooden bars struck by mallets. I guess this group of musicians is called as the drum and bugle corpe.
That event was very interesting and I am glad that I was able to witness it. I believed it was also one of the highlights during my visit in London.
